In addition to the photos on the previous page, and stepping into the 21st Century, we thought we'd take full advantage of the power of the internet and show you some of the videos we've made over the past year too. We hope they give you a better idea into what life might be like for us in the Atlantic.
Capsize Test
The weekend before we shipped her off to La Gomera we thought it might be a good idea to make sure the boat coud right herself correctly if capsized. We therefore engaged the help of the good people of Burnham-on-Crouch and flipped her over with a quay side crane whilst we rode out the storm inside. Apologies for the language, it really was pretty nerve racking for a while.
Sea Survival Course
One of the necessary qualifications that we had to obtain before the race was an RYA Sea Survival course. The video above contains some of the highlights of that course including: a correct entry into the water in full waterproof clothing and life jacket; righting a capsized life raft from the water; and escaping from a capsized life raft underwater (the latter involving an unseen "rock, paper, scissors" competition to decide who got to exit first.
